Egg-speriments!

This week in Gascoigne class we have been working on the following;

Maths - during our maths skills sessions we have practised times tables, number bonds & number relationships. We have also developed our ability to measure area and perimeter in our maths lessons.

Literacy - the class have been working to identify and improve their editing skills and they particularly enjoyed assessing a piece of writing I produced. We have also planned and started writing a recount from half term.

Topic - the children have started studying predators on the laptops and also created their own predator games in our computing time! Very tech savvy!

Science - on Thursday we completed our science investigation, based on teeth, that was started before the holidays.
What effects do certain liquids have on teeth (or in this case eggshells)?
No surprises to learn that tea, coffee and juice are bad, but there was a surprise to be found!! Ask the children.

Predator Learning logs

Predator Learning log work should be handed in during or before week commencing 20th March.

Well done to those children who have already started and told us about some very creative ideas.

Thanks

Mission starlight

We were visited in Gascoigne class on Friday by Bryony Turford, a primary science consultant and 'Space Ambassador who led the children in a number of investigations based on UV rays. This was to link in with the Tim Peake project we are taking part in throughout school.
Each child was able to work through 4 practical investigations using UV beads, special torches, visor materials and sun cream and as they may have fed back to you already, everyone had a fantastic time and a great learning experience.
I would also like to note how fantastic the children were working with a variety of partners, new equipment and many new concepts.
